Following are excerpts of activities reported by the Jefferson police department:
Saturday, Oct. 31: At 4:21 am the Boone County sheriff’s office requested an officer invoke implied consent and obtain a test at the Greene County Medical Center to determine if the driver of a vehicle involved in a motor vehicle collision in the 100 block of 130th St in Boone County had been under the influence while driving a motor vehicle. At 10:13 am a complainant reported an abandoned bicycle in the 900 block of W. South St. At 2:31 pm a complainant spoke to an officer at the front counter at the Law Enforcement Center regarding criminal mischief to a door at an apartment at 300 S. Wilson St. At 3:37 pm a complainant reported a white GMC Envoy full of teenagers dressed in costumes mooning other vehicles on County Road E-53 (235th St) east of Jefferson. The officer waited for the vehicle near the airport but did not locate it. At 8:42 pm staff at Wild Rose Casino requested an officer for a male who had previously been trespassed from the casino for 90 days. Evan Royce Petit, 19, of Jefferson was cited for trespass (simple misdemeanor)*.
At 10:45 pm an officer investigated a two vehicle collision at an uncontrolled intersection at N. Locust and E. Adams St. Mark Gorsuch was northbound on Locust St. Cordero Reed was westbound on Adams Street. The two vehicles collided within the intersection. Gorsuch was cited for failure to yield to the vehicle on the right. His 2005 Mercury Sable was disabled and sustained $7,000 in damage. Reed’s 2000 Ford Explorer sustained $1,000 in damage.
Friday, Oct. 30: At 4:34 pm a complainant reported the theft of a refrigerator from a rental property in the 300 block of S. Elm St. An investigation was initiated. At 10:45 pm a complainant reported a fire behind a business in the 200 block of E. Lincoln Way. A 55-gallon drum was on fire in the alley next to a business. A nearby Iowa State Trooper used a fire extinguisher and extinguished the fire prior to the officer’s arrival.
Thursday, Oct. 29: At 1:17 pm an officer responded to a panic alarm activated at the clerk of court’s office at the courthouse. A male had been disruptive but had left the area prior to the officer arriving.
Wednesday, Oct. 28: At 1:45 pm an officer was notified by the Des Moines Police Department that a vehicle reported stolen on Oct. 25 at 107 N. Grimmell Road had been recovered in the 3800 block of Merle Hay Road in Des Moines. The investigation regarding the theft is ongoing at this time. At 5:43 pm an anonymous caller reported a suspicious male picking pill bottles up out of some bushes in the 400 block of N. Olive St.
Tuesday, Oct. 27: At 3:20 pm an officer investigated a hit and run collision at a residence at 406 N. Cedar St. A 2002 Ford Taurus owned by Hannah Hoyt was parked on the east side of the 400 block of N. Cedar St. A northbound white truck, possibly a Ford with a V-shaped tow bar attached to the rear of the truck sideswiped Hoyt’s vehicle as it passed by, causing an estimated $3,000 in damage. The incident remains under investigation. At 3:29 pm a complainant requested an officer pick up an abandoned bicycle in the 600 block of S. Oak St.
Monday, Oct. 26: At 5:58 pm an officer investigated a backing collision in the Greene County High School parking lot. Tony Sparks backed a 2012 Ford Escape from a parking stall and struck a parked 2001 Chevrolet Prism owned by Thomas Kennedy. The officer estimated $1,000 in damage to each vehicle. At 9:13 pm David Desbiens reported the theft of a 2004 Ford pickup truck from the parking lot at Hy-Vee. The truck had been left running with the keys in it. The vehicle was later located at about 9:37 in Perry, and the driver fled from Perry officers. About five miles south of Minburn stop sticks were deployed and the driver fled the vehicle into a pasture where he was taken into custody. As a result, a warrant has been requested charging Andrew Lee Jensen, 33, of Jefferson, with theft – first degree (Class C felony) and driving while license denied or revoked (serious misdemeanor)*. Jensen faces Perry police department charges of eluding, theft – fifth degree, driving while revoked and numerous traffic violations. Dallas County charges include possession of a firearm, possession of stolen property and interference with official acts. (Perry and Dallas County charges provided to GCNO by The Perry News.) *** Pursuant to an assault investigation initiated on Oct. 19, at 613 S. Wilson, a warrant has been issued charging Jessica Amber Montoya, 20, of Churdan with domestic abuse assault – first offense (serious misdemeanor)*.
Sunday, Oct. 25: At 5:58 am a complainant reported the theft of a gray 2005 Dodge Neon which had been left running at 300 E. Monroe Street. The incident remains under investigation. At 9:45 am an officer investigated a backing collision in the 400 block of S. Vine St. Noel Drewry backed a 2000 Chevrolet van from a private driveway and backed into a parked 2015 Chevrolet Equinox parked on the street and owned by Megan Ball. Damage to the Equinox was estimated at $500. Drewry was cited for unsafe backing upon roadway. At 10:43 am a complainant reported the theft of a black 1999 Pontiac Grand Am from a residence in the 100 block of N. Grimmell Road. A female had been allowed to stay at the residence and is suspected of taking the vehicle without permission. The incident remains under investigation. At 3:57 pm a complainant reported her dog had been bitten by another dog while she walked it past 508 W. State St. The offending dog has been deemed as a vicious animal and must meet the requirements set by city code. At 9:52 pm an officer took a report of a sexual assault that took place at a residence in the 300 block of W. Reed St during the early morning hours of Oct. 15.
Saturday, Oct. 24: At 11:11 am a complainant reported criminal mischief to a padlock at in the 500 block of N. Vine St. At 11:15 am the Boone County sheriff’s office requested an officer check for a male at a residence in the 600 block of W. Madison St who has an active warrant out of their county. At 12:41 pm a complainant reported a fight at a residence in the 800 block of W. Monroe St. Charges are pending completion of the investigation. At 6:17 pm security staff at Wild Rose Casino requested an officer for a female at the casino who was on the self-exclusion list. The officer cited Delores Armstrong, 63, of Adel for trespass – simple misdemeanor*.
Friday, Oct. 23: At 12:03 pm a complainant reported a burglary at an apartment in the 1000 block of W. Adams St. The complainant had been gone from the residence and returned to find the apartment locked but a refrigerator door handle broken. At 7:21 pm a complainant reported mischievous children in the 100 block of N. Oak St after school lets out every day. At 8:23 pm a complainant reported firecrackers being lit off in a mailbox in the 400 block of W. Madison St.

Tuesday, Oct. 20: At 8:04 am a complainant reported identity theft to an officer. Unauthorized charges had been made to a bank account. At 8:05 am a complainant reported possible criminal mischief to a vehicle in the 400 block of W. Russell St. At 8:28 am a complainant reported a burglary and theft of medication at a residence in the 100 block of S. Grimmell Road. At 1:23 pm an officer was requested to pick up an abandoned bicycle at the Methodist Church. At 3:30 pm an officer responded to a car-cyclist collision at S. Chestnut and E. Monroe St. Linda Barnett was southbound on Chestnut St when a 13-year-old female riding a bicycle did not see Barnett coming and rode her bike into the side of Barnett’s 2010 Toyota Camry, causing $500 in damage. The bicyclist was evaluated by Greene County EMS and was not injured. She was released to a grandparent. At 11:20 pm an officer picked up a bicycle abandoned in the ditch at Highways 30 and 4.
Monday, Oct. 20: At 2:24 pm a complainant reported an assault between two adult siblings at a residence in the 600 block of S. Wilson. Charges are pending. At 5:24 pm a resident reported receiving a message on her home phone of an attempted scam where the caller said that if she didn’t contact them regarding a past due court fine, a warrant would be issued for her arrest. The number 301-637-6088 originates out of Maryland and is an attempt to defraud the recipient of the call. At 7:51 pm an anonymous female reported a concern of almost striking a runner without reflective clothing on Grimmell Rd. At 7:59 pm a complainant reported a vehicle routinely parked illegally in a handicapped parking spot at 102 S. Grimmell Road. At 8:37 pm a complainant reported a concern of a male and female walking in the roadway on Highway 30 west of Wild Rose Casino. The officer contacted the couple who denied the accusation. The male, Timmy Banks, 56, of Fort Dodge was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Webster County for theft – third degree*. Banks was transported to the Greene County LEC to await pickup by a Webster County officer.
Sunday, Oct. 18: At 2:54 am a complainant reported a residential burglary in the 800 block of W. South St. The residence had been entered; firearms and a vase containing change had been stolen. A Greene County sheriff’s deputy took the initial complaint for the officer. At 4:48 pm an officer was requested at the Greene County Community Center regarding four juveniles causing issues and throwing rocks in the parking lot. At 7:41 pm On-Star reported a vehicle crash in the 1000 block of W. Wall Street. A 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe was found in the ditch with significant damage. An Iowa State patrolman completed the accident investigation. At 10:44 pm a complainant reported possible trespass at a residence in the 400 block of S. Pinet St. ***Pursuant to the completion of an investigation initiated on Oct. 4 regarding an alleged assault that occurred at Madison and S. Wilson St, an officer has charged Ryan Andrew Footlander, 14, of Jefferson, with assault with a dangerous weapon (aggravated misdemeanor)*. Footlander has been referred to Juvenile Court Services.
Saturday, Oct. 17: At 12:45 pm a complainant reported possible criminal mischief to a vehicle and a theft at a residence in the 400 block of S. Pinet St. Charges are pending. At 8:20 pm an officer was requested by Carroll County to assist in a vehicle pursuit of a stolen car that was taking place near 270th and Walnut St in Carroll County. The 15-year-old male had been taken into custody prior to the officer’s arrival. At 11:24 pm a traffic stop in the 500 block of E. Lincoln Way resulted in the arrest of Jay Springer, 59, of Jefferson operating while intoxicated-first offense and speeding.*
Friday, Oct. 16: At 12:51 am an officer was advised of a male who was falling down and appeared to be intoxicated in the 100 block of N. Chestnut St. Jesse Lair, 27, of Jefferson was arrested and charged with public intoxication (simple misdemeanor)*. At 6:53 am staff at Kum and Go reported a male had been in the store the night prior and had redeemed lottery tickets that were believed to have been obtained illegally. The incident is believed to be connected with a similar case in Greenfield. An investigation was initiated. At 12:43 pm an anonymous female reported two dogs mauling a cat in the 700 block of W. South St. Upon the officer’s arrival, the officer found the cat deceased and the owner of the dogs loading them into a vehicle. Per city ordinance, the animals were deemed illegal animals and must be removed from the city limits. At 2:01 pm an investigation was initiated regarding criminal mischief at the Greene County High School during Homecoming Week. Charges are pending. At 2:51 pm staff at Greene County Medical Center reported a vehicle had been damaged in their employee parking lot. Construction personnel were moving a concrete light pole base with a fork lift when it got away from the operator and struck a 2012 Chevrolet Traverse owned by Sydney Delp of Jefferson. The worker was injured while trying to stop the concrete base from hitting the vehicle. Damage to the Traverse was estimated at $500.
Thursday, Oct. 15: At 8:44 am an officer was requested to investigate a reported assault between juveniles waiting for the bus at the Greene County elementary school. The officer has sent a charge of assault – simple to the Juvenile Court for an 11-year-old male. At 5:55 pm a complainant reported the theft of a bicycle from a residence in the 300 block of W. Reed St. At 10:34 pm an officer was requested at a residence in the 100 block of E. Washington St for an unwanted female at the residence. The officer arrested Freedom Hope Ore, 34, of Jefferson for trespass – simple and disorderly conduct – simple.*
Wednesday, Oct. 14:At 2:24 pm while on patrol an officer located a subject in the yard of a residence in the 400 block of W. Russell St for whom the officer knew there was an outstanding Greene County arrest warrant. Lance Michal Ross, 18, of Grand Junction was arrested on a charge of criminal mischief- fourth degree (serious misdemeanor)*. Ross was transported to the LEC and turned over to the jailer to be processed. At 3:51 pm an officer arrested a male juvenile at a residence in the 600 block of S. Wilson on outstanding arrest warrants. The juvenile was transported to the LEC and later transported by Juvenile Detention officers to a detention center.
At 4:36 pm a complainant reported the suspected theft of packages that had been delivered to a residence in the 200 block of E. Clark St. At 5:58 pm officers investigated a hit and run accident at 102 S. Grimmell Road. A 2007 Pontiac G6, owned by Antonio Cruz of Orient, had been struck by an unknown vehicle as it was parked. The vehicle sustained an estimated $3,000 in damages. The officer is investigating. ***Arrest warrants have been issued after the completion of an investigation initiated Sept. 8. DeAnn Marie Goff, 33, of Jefferson is charged with forgery (Class D felony) and theft-fifth degree (simple misdemeanor)*. *** John Fortisi of Madrid has been charged with driving while barred* after an investigation that began Sept. 4 at Wild Rose Casino. ***Arrest warrants have been issued for Karah Jean Brown, 18, of Jefferson on a charge of unauthorized use of credit card under $1,000 (two counts)* after the completion of an investigation initiated Aug. 13.
Tuesday, Oct. 13: At 8:14 pm a complainant requested an officer at a residence in the 1000 block of W. Wall St for a male trespassing on the property.
Monday, Oct. 12: At 7:59 am an officer investigated a two vehicle collision at N. Maple and W. Adams St. Dennis Ross was eastbound on Adams Street driving a 2005 Chevrolet pickup pulling a 2005 H&H enclosed trailer. Emma Hanson was southbound on Maple St. riding a 2007 Extreme Moped when she struck the rear corner of Ross’s trailer within the intersection. The officer estimated damage to the moped at $1,500 and $1,000 in damage to the trailer. Hanson was cited for failure to yield to the vehicle on the right. At 4:58 pm an officer investigated a motor vehicle collision in the parking lot at Oly’s Corner. Shanon Meyer was westbound in the lot in a 2003 Ford Mustang when she struck a concrete base to a light pole. The vehicle sustained $2,000 in damage.
Sunday, Oct. 11: At 12:54 am while patrolling an officer located a vehicle in the ditch in the 500 block of S. Grimmell Road. The officers made contact with the registered owner, who advised the vehicle had been stolen from his residence. The incident remains under investigation. At 8:54 pm Tracey Kingsley reported a hit and run accident which occurred at Subway. Her son was driving her vehicle and had left the area and gone to Ogden. Kingsley reported damage to her 2006 Kia Spectra. The officer is investigating.
Saturday, Oct. 10: At 10:18 am an officer assisted a DHS case worker in trying to locate three children in Jefferson. At 9:51 pm an officer located a group of juveniles riding a motorized scooter in the alley near the Jefferson library. The officer advised the group that the scooter cannot be ridden on the sidewalk, streets, or alleys.
Friday, Oct. 9: At 8:07 am an MHF employee reported that workers had struck a gas line in the area of W. Head and N. Walnut St. The officer and the Jefferson fire department provided traffic control in the area until the gas had been turned off. At 2 pm officers provided traffic control on the square during the homecoming parade. At 8:58 pm a complainant reported witnessing juveniles sliding across a vehicle hood in the Greene County High School parking lot during the football game. The vehicle had not been damaged. The three juveniles were warned by the officer. At 10:50 pm a complainant reported juveniles being loud in the high school parking lot.
Thursday, Oct. 8: At 11:36 pm Jefferson officers assisted a Greene County deputy responding to a domestic situation at the Janko Motel in Grand Junction. The male party was not present when officers arrived. The deputy learned that the male had an outstanding arrest warrant out of Georgia for his arrest. The deputy and officers located the male a short time later at the Redwood Motel in Jefferson. Weldon Dudley Roberts, 53, of Galivants Ferry, SC, was arrested on the outstanding arrest warrant. The warrant was issued in 1988 for a parole violation on an original charge of homicide. Roberts was transported to the Greene County LEC to await extradition back to Georgia.
Wednesday, Oct. 7: At 11:46 am a complainant reported a burglary at a residence in the 500 block of N. Cedar St. The residence had been entered. Items disturbed and a rabbit had been killed. At 3:26 pm an officer investigated a property damage collision at Oly’s Corner. Julie Smith had driven out of the car wash in a 2000 Ford F-250 pickup and struck a concrete base for a light pole causing $3,000 in damage to the truck. At 8:20 pm a resident in the 500 block of S. Elm St requested an officer pick up a bicycle which had been found on R Ave south of Jefferson. At 11:13 pm a complainant reported the occupants of a loud silver and blue pickup truck throwing toilet paper and yelling obscenities in the 300 block of Edgewood Ave.
Tuesday, Oct. 6: At 8:49 am a complainant reported a male was bothering tenants at Cambridge Apartments. The male had been asked not to return to the property but continued to do so. A formal trespass notice will be served on the subject. Any further incidents will result in criminal charges. At 5:10 pm an officer investigated a backing collision in the middle school parking lot. Abigail Gerzema was backing from a parking stall in a 2014 Kia Sedona when she became distracted by a vehicle pulling into the parking lot off of Elm Street. Gerzema backed into a parked 2008 Chevrolet Impala owned by James Carman. The officer estimated $850 in damage to Gerzema’s vehicle and $2,600 in damage to Carmen’s Impala. At 6:10 pm a complainant reported criminal mischief to a vehicle the previous evening while parked in the 600 block of S. Vine Street. Someone had poured sugar into the vehicle through an open sunroof on a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix. At 7:40 pm Ashley Millard reported a hit and run collision in the Greene County Community Center parking lot. Millard had parked a red 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue in the lot and when she returned to it, she found damage to the front fender and hood. The officer estimated $1,000 in damage to the vehicle. At 8:17 pm an officer was advised of a female sitting in the middle of the roadway crying hysterically at the intersection of Locust and Monroe St. The officer found a female who had fallen off of her bike. The officer could smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her person. The officer told the female he was going to take her into custody at which time she decided to run away from the officer. Jasmine Fox, 16, of Jefferson was detained, transported to the Law Enforcement Center and released to a parent. Fox was charged with possession of an alcoholic beverage under the age of 21* and minor in possession of tobacco and had been referred to Juvenile Court Services. At 8:25 pm a complainant reported criminal mischief to a vehicle related to homecoming at a residence in the 400 block of N. Olive St. Peanut butter and petroleum jelly had been smeared on the door handles of a vehicle. At 9:22 pm a complainant reported criminal mischief to a vehicle related to homecoming in the 100 block of S. Pinet St. A 2010 Chevrolet Malibu had been egged and caution tape put on the door handles.
Monday, Oct. 5: At 9:02 am an officer was requested to attempt to contact a local resident for the Des Moines police department regarding a previously reported stolen vehicle. At 11:48 am a complainant requested an officer at a residence in the 100 block of E. Washington St for the report of a female breaking out windows on the residence with a claw hammer and yelling, causing the complainant to fear for her safety. Deann Goff, 33, of Jefferson was arrested soon after at a residence in the 500 block of N. Vine St and charged with harassment-first degree and criminal mischief-third degree (aggravated misdemeanors) and trespass – injury or damage greater than $200 (serious misdemeanor)*. Goff was transported to the Greene County LEC where she was booked into jail. At 2:35 pm Nancy Winger reported a hit and run collision that had occurred in the Dollar General parking lot. Winger’s 2010 Chrysler 300 had been backed into by a silver 2003 Ford Taurus. A license plate number was obtained from the Taurus. The officer is attempting to contact the owner of the vehicle. At 10:42 pm a complainant reported a car full of teenagers toilet papering residences on Briarwood Bend. The complainant had followed the teens to a residence in the 500 block of W. Russell Street. The officer diffused the situation.
Sunday, Oct. 4: At 8:55 am a complainant reported the theft of mail from a residence in the 1000 block of W. Adams St. At 3:55 pm a complainant reported a juvenile male had been the victim of an assault in the 300 block of S. Wilson. Another juvenile was reported to have displayed a knife in a threatening manner towards the boy. The incident remains under investigation. At 10:58 pm a complainant reported unwanted toilet papering at a residence in the 300 block of Edgewood Drive. At 11:03 pm a complainant reported unwanted toilet papering at a residence in the 900 block of S. Elm St. *** Pursuant to a report of a theft at Kum and Go on 9/17, a warrant has been issued charging Kimberly Marie Smith, 42, of Jefferson with two counts of theft-fifth degree*. *** Pursuant to a report of a theft on 9/28 at Hy-Vee grocery store, a warrant has been issued charging Janon Lezlie Olson, 44, of Jefferson with two counts of theft – fifth degree*.

Friday, Oct. 2: At 6:20 pm a complainant reported trespass at a residence in the 300 block of N. Maple St.
Thursday, Oct. 1: At 8:25 am an officer investigated a motor vehicle collision in the student parking lot at Greene County High School. Logan Lawson was pulling into a parking stall in a 1997 Chevrolet Blazer when he struck a parked 2002 Ford Taurus owned by Cecelia Hammel. There was an estimated $200 in damage to the Hammel vehicle and $50 in damage to Lawson’s. At 9:18 am Krieger’s Greenhouse reported criminal mischief to a window done by a BB gun. There was an estimated $500 in damage. At 9:19 am a complainant reported harassment at a residence in the 600 block of N. Olive St. At 9:25 am an officer took a report of a hit and run collision that occurred in the student parking lot at Greene County High School. A black 2002 Pontiac Bonneville owned by Matthew Schroeder had been struck on the driver side by an unknown red vehicle which caused an estimated $800 in damage. At 10:20 am a Department of Human Services worker reported a possible assault of a minor child that was reported to have happened Aug. 6 at a residence in the 700 block of N. Cedar St.
